On Sept 20, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) released the third batch of typical cases on procuratorial organs' performance of duties in promoting the integration of core socialist values into the development of the rule of law. The date marked the 24th National Civic Morality Publicity Day.

The batch comprises six typical cases, all concluded within the past two years. The cases have three distinctive features.

First, the cases address pressing public concerns, focusing on issues concerning public morality and virtue, common behavioral deviations, and frequently occurring disputes. They cover cases involving the prosecution of those who abuse the images of heroes and martyrs for profit; supporting litigation to revoke the guardianship of negligent guardians who give birth to children but fail to raise them; and procuratorial protests to protect the rights and interests of grown-up children who fulfill their duty to support their parents. Through these cases, procuratorial organs convey values such as patriotism, amity, integrity, the rule of law, and fairness and justice.

Second, the cases fully showcase the outcomes of procuratorial duty performance across multiple procuratorial functions, including procuratorial protests, procuratorial recommendations for retrial, support for litigation, and public interest litigation.

In addition, the cases demonstrate the unity of law, reason, and emotion by integrating the spirit of the law, legal provisions, and the public's sense of justice.

According to the head of the SPP's Law and Policy Research Office, procuratorial organs will thoroughly implement the system of "those who enforce the law are also responsible for popularizing the law" and give full play to the exemplary and guiding role of typical cases to promote the spirit of socialist rule of law and advance the integration of core socialist values into law-based governance and everyday social life.
