Enhancing legal protection of intellectual property rights through Promote the integrated development of procuratorial work

The National Prosecution Organs' Training Program on Comprehensive Prosecution Duties for Intellectual Property Rights Protection was held at the Prosecution Technical Support Center in Beidaihe of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), from July 11 to 17. Gong Ming, a Permanent Member of Procuratorial Committee of the SPP, attended the closing ceremony on July 17. 

Gong pointed out that the procuratorates bear important political responsibilities, legal responsibilities and procuratorial responsibilities in strengthening the legal protection of intellectual property rights and promoting the construction of an innovative country in the new era.He also highlighted it is necessary to further study and resolve the key problems and difficult problems that exist in strengthening judicial protection, improving the quality and effectiveness of supervision, and deepening the comprehensive performance of duties, and further raise the level of legalization of intellectual property protection through lawful performance of duties.

Gong stressed the importance of effectively handling intellectual property cases and promoting the integrated development of criminal, civil, administrative, and public interest litigation prosecution in intellectual property. He pointed out that efforts should be made to strengthen the coordination and guidance of investigation and prosecution, and that comprehensive measures should be taken to enhance the protection of the rights of intellectual property owners; focus should be placed upon conducting precise supervision of typical cases with leading value, using the fight against malicious intellectual property litigation as a starting point, and utilizing big data to improve the quality and efficiency of legal supervision; legal supervision should be strengthened in administrative litigation cases involving intellectual property rights authorization and confirmation, administrative violations, and malicious trademark registrations; and that the foundation of the procuratorial role in public interest litigation should be solidified to safeguard national and public interests.
