A premium online course series produced by relevant departments of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) and the Seniors University of China (SUC) on protecting the rights and interests of the elderly was officially launched on Oct 16, as part of broader efforts to serve the national strategy for actively responding to population aging and meet the diverse and personalized needs of the elderly for learning and rights protection.
Centered on the core provisions of the Law on the Protection of the Rights and Interests of the Elderly, the series focuses on topics including standardized management of elderly care institutions, illegal fundraising involving the elderly, civil disputes of senior citizens, and public interest protection. Covering legal scenarios frequently encountered in older persons’ daily lives, it uses real judicial cases to systematically explain how to identify and prevent fraud and how to protect rights, helping senior citizens improve their ability to identify and guard against fraud, resolve disputes, and safeguard their rights rationally.
The series is jointly delivered by frontline prosecutors and university professors. The lecturers integrate theory with real-world judicial cases, turning complex legal provisions into easy-to-understand practical knowledge.
The courses will be available on the National Public Service Platform for Elderly Education, the official website and WeChat mini-program of the SUC, and Shijie App (the People's Daily video app). By building an inclusive legal education platform, the initiative aims to further enhance the elderly's sense of security under the rule of law and their well-being, and to help foster a social atmosphere in which senior citizens are respected and cared for and their legitimate rights and interests are protected.
