The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) and the National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) recently released a batch of typical cases on the law-based crackdown on medical insurance fraud crimes to safeguard the security of medical insurance funds.
The six released cases, covering high-incidence areas and emerging methods of medical insurance fraud, are highly representative and typical. They fully demonstrate the overarching approach of punishing such crimes strictly in accordance with the law and underscore the importance of coordination and collaboration among multiple departments to foster synergy for supervision and rectification, and advance comprehensive and effective special campaigns to address prominent problems in the management of medical insurance funds.
According to the head of the SPP's Procuratorial Department for General Crimes, the medical insurance fund serves as a safety net for people's life and health, and its security is vital to national interests and people's wellbeing.
The official urged procuratorial organs to strengthen coordination with medical insurance administrative authorities and other departments to jointly combat and punish medical insurance fraud crimes in accordance with the law, strengthen supervision over and protection of medical insurance funds, continuously improve working mechanisms for combating and preventing related illegal and criminal activities, maintain a high-pressure deterrent against fraud to ensure no one dares to commit such crimes, and provide rule‑of‑law safeguards for protecting and improving people's livelihoods.
