
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev meets with Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China, who leads a Chinese procuratorial delegation on a visit to Azerbaijan.
At the invitation of Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev, Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) of China, led a delegation to visit Azerbaijan from Aug 31 to Sept 2.
During the visit, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with the Chinese delegation. Ying also held working meetings with Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan, Inam Karimov, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan, and Prosecutor General Aliyev.
While meeting with President Aliyev, Ying conveyed greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping, highlighting the importance both leaders place on developing and steering bilateral relations. The establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Azerbaijan has ushered in a new chapter in their all-round cooperation, Ying noted.
Ying said that China's SPP is committed to deepening rule-of-law exchanges and cooperation with Azerbaijan's legislative, law enforcement, and judicial bodies under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of both countries to enrich the connotation of the China-Azerbaijan comprehensive strategic partnership.
President Aliyev asked Ying to extend his best wishes to President Xi. He reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to valuing its relations with China, emphasizing the countries' consistent mutual support on issues related to their core interests and major concerns.
He acknowledged the significance of procuratorial cooperation in broader Azerbaijan-China relations, and expressed the country's willingness to enhance pragmatic cooperation across various fields, including legislation, law enforcement, and judicial matters, so as to promote bilateral relations to new heights.

During his meetings with Gafarova and Karimov, Ying introduced China's development in the rule of law, judicial system, and procuratorial work. Gafarova and Karimov spoke highly of China's achievements in advancing the rule of law and procuratorial work, and expressed hope to learn from China's experiences in rule-of-law development and judicial reform.
Both sides agreed to follow the important consensus of the two heads of state, continuously deepen and solidify rule-of-law exchanges and cooperation and expand the scope of collaboration to provide more robust legal support for promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and regional prosperity and stability.

Ying Yong and Kamran Aliyev sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China and the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.
While meeting with Prosecutor General Aliyev, Ying highlighted the increasingly close and deep cooperation between the procuratorial authorities of the two countries against the backdrop of healthy and stable bilateral relations.
Noting that comprehensive law-based governance is one of the fundamental pillars underpinning the Communist Party of China's national governance strategy and China's constitutional principle, Ying said that Chinese procuratorial organs are committed to fulfilling their responsibilities as national legal supervision bodies, advancing the practice of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law in the work of procuratorates, and supporting Chinese modernization through high-quality procuratorial work.
With the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Azerbaijan approaching next year, Ying expressed the SPP's willingness to enhance pragmatic cooperation with the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan in combating transnational crime, judicial assistance in criminal matters, and personnel exchanges and training so as to benefit both nations and their people.
For his part, Prosecutor General Aliyev expressed hope for continued close interactions between the two countries' procuratorial bodies. He underlined the need for both sides to implement the two countries' joint statement on establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership, and deepen cooperation in areas such as combating transnational crime, judicial assistance in criminal matters, work exchanges, personnel mutual visits, and digital development. He also emphasized the importance of addressing cybersecurity challenges to better support the economic and social development of both countries and enhance the well-being of their people.
Ying and Prosecutor General Aliyev signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the SPP of China and the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan, which aims to further develop and deepen friendly cooperation between the procuratorial bodies of the two countries, including strengthening judicial assistance in criminal matters, conducting high-level exchanges and visits, organizing joint seminars, and facilitating exchanges and training for prosecutors.
The delegation included Chen Yong, Chief Prosecutor of the Shanghai Municipal People's Procuratorate, Zhao Tieshi, Chief Prosecutor of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Procuratorate, and Shen Jian, Chief Prosecutor of the Gansu Provincial People's Procuratorate. Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei accompanied the delegation for related activities.
