On July 30, Tong Jianming, First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), met with a delegation led by Tong Hio-fong, Prosecutor General of the Public Prosecutions Office of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region. The delegation was in Yinchuan for the 12th session of the National Affairs Training Program for Prosecutors of the Macao SAR.
On behalf of the SPP and Prosecutor General Ying Yong, Tong Jianming extended a warm welcome to Tong Hio-fong and his delegation. He noted that the rule of law serves as the cornerstone of Macao's development and stability.
Noting that the Public Prosecutions Office of Macao has played a significant role in advancing the rule of law in the SAR in recent years, Tong Jianming said he believed the office would, under the leadership of the prosecutor general, make new progress in its own development and make greater contributions to enhancing the effectiveness of law-based governance and promoting high-quality economic and social development in Macao.
Tong Jianming pointed out that the country's procuratorial work has made new strides in recent years. He added that procuratorial organs on the Chinese mainland are currently taking the 16th National Procuratorial Work Conference as a new starting point to make comprehensive arrangements for procuratorial tasks in the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30). The conference, he noted, stressed the need to refine the legal supervision system of procuratorial organs in keeping with the times, so as to provide robust judicial safeguards for advancing Chinese modernization.
Tong Jianming emphasized that the SPP attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation with the Public Prosecutions Office of Macao. Over the years, mainland procuratorial organs and the Macao Public Prosecutions Office have continuously deepened cooperation in seminars and exchanges, information technology development, and case collaboration, with cooperation models constantly innovated and tangible outcomes achieved, he said.
The National Affairs Training Program for Macao Prosecutors has been successfully held for 11 sessions, Tong Jianming noted, adding that the program not only deepens Macao prosecutors' understanding of mainland procuratorial work, but also enables mainland procuratorial organs to gain thorough insights into Macao's judicial and procuratorial systems.
He pledged that the SPP will continue to work with the Macao Public Prosecutions Office to further deepen multi-level procuratorial exchanges and cooperation between the mainland and Macao, and advance the steady and sustained implementation of the "one country, two systems" principle in judicial practice with Macao characteristics.
Tong Hio-fong thanked Tong Jianming for the meeting. He said the Macao Public Prosecutions Office will firmly implement the "one country, two systems" principle, continue to deepen pragmatic cooperation with mainland procuratorial organs, and improve regular coordination mechanisms in areas such as combating cross-border crime, information sharing, and professional training. The office will better integrate into the overall national development agenda and contribute procuratorial strength to safeguarding Macao's long-term prosperity and stability, he added.
Dou Zhaohui, Chief Prosecutor of the People's Procuratorate of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, attended the meeting.
