Ying noted that the BRICS Heads of Prosecution Services Meeting Mechanism is an important professional mechanism within the BRICS cooperation framework.
He emphasized that procuratorial organs of all BRICS countries, upholding the BRICS spirit of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation, have earnestly implemented the consensus reached by BRICS leaders by strengthening practical exchanges and cooperation in various areas of procuratorial work. They have jointly cracked down on transnational crimes and tackled risks and challenges, making positive contributions to safeguarding regional security and stability and promoting common prosperity, he noted.
Ying added that the meeting will hold in-depth discussions on topics including the digitalization of criminal litigation, which will help advance experience sharing and mutual learning, and enhance all participating countries' capacity in law enforcement and judicial practice.
He further highlighted that China's procuratorial organs, as state organs for legal supervision and judicial bodies ensuring the unified and correct enforcement of national laws, bear significant responsibilities in combating criminal offenses, overseeing criminal litigation, strengthening human rights protection, and upholding fairness in law enforcement and the administration of justice.
He stated that China's procuratorial organs stand ready to work with their BRICS counterparts to further deepen cooperation in areas such as judicial assistance in criminal matters, repatriation and extradition of offenders, application of digital technologies, and training of procuratorial personnel, so as to jointly safeguard the national interests and well-being of the people of all BRICS countries through the power of the rule of law.
Du Xueyi, a vice-ministerial-level permanent member of the Procuratorial Committee of the SPP of China, attended the meeting.
