SPP Advisory Committee meeting highlights high-quality research for scientific decision-making

The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) holds a work meeting of its Advisory Committee members in Xiong'an New Area, Hebei province, on July 2. Ying Yong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Prosecutor General of the SPP, attended and addressed the meeting.

On July 2, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) held a work meeting of its Advisory Committee members in Xiong'an New Area, Hebei province, to discuss ways to promote the high-quality development of procuratorial work on the new journey in the new era.

Ying Yong, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Prosecutor General of the SPP, attended and addressed the meeting.

Tong Jianming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and First Deputy Prosecutor General of the SPP, presided over the meeting, while Wang Lujin, Deputy Secretary of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Secretary of the Political and Legal Commission of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee, delivered an address.

Chen Dongsheng, a member of the Party Leadership Group and head of the Political Department of the SPP, also attended.

Earlier this year, in line with the work arrangements of the SPP Party Leadership Group, the SPP Advisory Committee conducted in-depth research on a range of topics, including legal supervision over the application of compulsory measures, special supervision over illegal cross-jurisdictional law enforcement and profit-driven law enforcement and judicial practices, capacity building of grassroots procuratorial teams, promoting diversified dispute resolution, and specialized education and correctional education. These efforts produced high-quality research reports.

Prior to the meeting, each research group held in-depth discussions and refined their respective research reports. At the meeting, Sun Qian, Director of the SPP Advisory Committee, briefed participants on the overall research findings, and each research group exchanged views and put forward suggestions based on their specific themes.

Ying emphasized the importance of leveraging the Advisory Committee's role as a think tank in planning and advancing procuratorial work for both the current period and the future. He expressed the hope that committee members would strengthen research on how to better serve the overall work of the Party and the country, delivering justice for the people, and upholding the rule of law.

He called for research aimed at strengthening procuratorial supervision, deepening theoretical procuratorial research, promoting the development of an independent knowledge system of Chinese procuratorial science, and continuously advancing the development and improvement of the socialist procuratorial system with Chinese characteristics.

Ying also underscored the need to strengthen research on handling every case with high quality and efficiency, improving mechanisms for achieving and assessing judicial fairness in procuratorial proceedings, building systems and mechanisms for high-quality and efficient case handling, fully performing the duties of the country’s legal supervision organs, and safeguarding and promoting social fairness and justice.

In addition, he urged efforts to enhance research on team building and grassroots infrastructure development of procuratorial organs, calling for comprehensive improvements in political, professional, disciplinary, and cultural development within procuratorates, in order to forge a loyal, disciplined, and high-caliber procuratorial team.

Members of the SPP Advisory Committee, Dong Kaijun, Chief Prosecutor of the People's Procuratorate of Hebei Province, and leading officials from relevant SPP departments attended the meeting.
