Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China, meets with a delegation led by Thai Attorney General Itthiporn Kaewtip in Beijing on June 30.

Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) of the People’s Republic of China, met with a delegation led by Thai Attorney General Itthiporn Kaewtip in Beijing on June 30.

Ying extended a warm welcome to Itthiporn and his delegation, noting that China and Thailand are good neighbors, good friends, good relatives, and good partners, with bilateral ties grounded in mutual respect, equality, and shared benefits.

Ying noted that, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries last year, President Xi Jinping met with Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua during the Thai king’s state visit to China. The two leaders reached important consensus on building a more stable, prosperous, and sustainable China-Thailand community with a shared future, charting a blueprint for the development of bilateral relations.

Ying highlighted that under the sound and steady development of China-Thailand relations, law enforcement and judicial cooperation between the two countries has continued to deepen. He added that the procuratorial organs of both countries have maintained a long-standing friendship, marked by frequent high-level visits, close personnel exchanges, and fruitful cooperation outcomes.

Ying briefed the delegation on China's rule of law development and procuratorial work, emphasizing that advancing law-based governance in all respects is a fundamental strategy of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in governing the country and a principle enshrined in China's Constitution.

Ying pointed out that, as stipulated by China’s Constitution and relevant laws, China's procuratorial organs serve as the country's legal supervision and judicial organs responsible for ensuring the unified and correct implementation of national laws. He added that under the leadership of the CPC, the procuratorial organs are fully performing their duties as legal supervision organs, continuously advancing the practice of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law in procuratorial work, and supporting Chinese modernization through high-quality procuratorial work.

Ying noted that China's procuratorial organs are ready to work with their Thai counterparts to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries by strengthening pragmatic cooperation in combating transnational crimes, criminal repatriation and extradition, judicial assistance in criminal matters, and exchanges and training of procuratorial personnel. Together, they will jointly advance Lancang-Mekong judicial cooperation, continuously deepen bilateral friendly ties, and bring greater benefits to both countries and their peoples, he said.

Itthiporn expressed appreciation for the meeting with Ying and praised China's unremitting efforts and remarkable achievements in improving its legal system and advancing strict law enforcement and impartial justice in the course of its modernization drive.

He highlighted the profound traditional friendship and fruitful cooperation between Thailand and China, noting that the concept of "Thailand and China are as close as one family" is deeply cherished by both countries.

Itthiporn expressed his hope to learn from China's experiences in rule of law development and procuratorial work, and to further strengthen pragmatic cooperation with China in areas such as cracking down on telecom and online fraud crimes, corruption, judicial assistance in criminal matters, and exchanges and training of prosecutors. This, he said, will jointly enhance the capacity and performance of procuratorial work, better support the development of both countries, and improve the well-being of their peoples.

Zhang Xiaojin, a vice-ministerial-level permanent member of the Procuratorial Committee of the SPP of China, attended the meeting.
