On May 15, Zhang Xiaojin, a vice-ministerial-level permanent member of the Procuratorial Committee of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), delivered remarks at the closing ceremony of a training session on improving prosecutors' competence in handling duty-related criminal cases.

He underscored the importance of aligning efforts toward the shared objective of advancing high-quality and efficient case handling while strengthening coordinated, law-based performance of duties. This, he noted, is essential to consolidating and expanding the outcomes of anti-corruption efforts.

Zhang emphasized the need for deeper research and a more comprehensive understanding of evolving corruption trends and characteristics. He also called for continuous improvement in capabilities related to evidence collection, review, and application, as well as legal analysis and accurate application of the law.

He also stressed the importance of jointly promoting the implementation and refinement of coordination mechanisms between law enforcement oversight and criminal justice, ensuring effective collaboration and mutual checks and balances to steadily enhance the overall synergy of anti-corruption work.

Zhang further highlighted the necessity of faithfully implementing the arrangements and requirements set forth by the fifth plenary session of the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on intensifying the crackdown on corruption in key areas and corrupt acts that directly infringe upon public interests. He added that greater efforts should be made to eliminate the conditions that breed corruption, thereby contributing to the resolute, protracted, and all-out battle against corruption.

The training session was co-organized by the Case Trial Office of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, the SPP's Prosecutorial Department for Crimes of Dereliction of Duty, and the Second Criminal Division of the Supreme People's Court, and held by the Yunnan branch of the National Prosecutors College.

A total of about 240 key personnel from disciplinary inspection, supervision, prosecution and adjudication organs nationwide took part in the training.

Zhang Xiangjun, Chief Prosecutor of the Yunnan Provincial People's Procuratorate, also attended the closing ceremony.
