Shi Weizhong, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) of China, met with a delegation led by Nguyen Van Khoat, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Committee and Principal of the Procuratorate University of Vietnam, in Beijing on April 21.
On behalf of the SPP, Shi extended a warm welcome to Khoat and his delegation. Shi noted that the delegation's visit holds special significance as it comes closely after the successful state visit to China by To Lam, General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and President of Vietnam, and comes at a time when China-Vietnam relations are entering a new stage with important development opportunities.
The university delegation's visit, he added, not only reflects the enduring traditional friendship between the Communist Party of China and the CPV as well as between the two nations, but also demonstrates the great importance both sides attach to deepening cooperation between their procuratorial organs and procuratorial education institutions.
Shi briefed the delegation on the priorities of China's rule of law development and procuratorial work during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30). He pointed out that China and Vietnam share similar concepts and missions in their procuratorial work, and that deepening bilateral exchanges and cooperation serves the common interests of both countries and benefits their peoples.
Shi said Chinese procuratorial organs are willing to work with their Vietnamese counterparts to carry forward the traditional friendship, implement high-level consensus, deepen practical cooperation, and share experience in rule of law development and procuratorial work.
He also emphasized the importance of strengthening procuratorial talent development and academic exchanges, and enhancing bilateral procuratorial cooperation, so as to contribute procuratorial strength to advancing the development of the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Khoat and his delegation thanked Shi for the meeting. They expressed the hope that both sides would take the important outcomes of Lam's state visit to China as a new opportunity, fully implement the consensus reached by the top leaders of both countries and the guiding principles of the meeting between the prosecutors general of the two countries, and further expand the depth and scope of bilateral cooperation.
