The first specialized training session on comprehensively and accurately implementing the criminal policy of tempering justice with mercy concluded on April 17 at the National Prosecutors College's Xiangshan Campus in Beijing.

The training session aimed to provide participants with a systematic and accurate understanding of the policy, ensuring that people feel fairness and justice in every judicial case.

Focusing on procuratorates' primary duty of legal supervision and the fundamental responsibility of high-quality and efficient case handling, the training emphasized grasping the dialectical relationship between leniency and severity. It also stressed the strict and accurate application of the leniency system for those who admit guilt and accept punishment in accordance with the law.

To promote the comprehensive, accurate and precise application of the criminal policy in practice, the training focused on key areas such as minor and serious crimes, economic crimes, juvenile-related procuratorial work, and intellectual property-related prosecution.

Lecturers included leading officials from relevant departments of the Supreme People's Procuratorate and experienced professionals from local procuratorates.

Additionally, the curriculum featured a special session on the codification and implementation of the Ecological and Environmental Code and workshops on establishing and practicing a correct understanding of governance performance.

The 10-day training session brought together over 150 key personnel from the criminal prosecution departments of procuratorates at three levels from across the country.
