On April 3, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) held a meeting for procuratorates nationwide to advance the special campaign on procuratorial protection of people's livelihoods.
Shi Weizhong, Deputy Prosecutor General of the SPP, attended the meeting. He stressed the need to integrate the campaign into the education campaign on establishing and practicing a correct understanding of governance performance, urging deeper implementation on all fronts, so that the public can truly feel, experience and benefit from procuratorial organs' commitment to administering justice for the people.
Shi emphasized focusing on key priority areas and addressing the people's urgent and pressing concerns in accordance with the law. Efforts, he added, should be concentrated on critical fields to effectively support high-quality economic and social development.
He also highlighted the importance of protecting key groups, calling for continued strengthening of safeguards for the legitimate rights and interests of minors, women, the elderly, people with disabilities, as well as heroes, martyrs and military personnel and their families.
In addition, Shi called for bolstering the integrated and comprehensive performance of duties in order to deliver tangible results in the procuratorial protection of livelihoods.
Efforts should be made to strengthen overall organizational leadership, improve communication and coordination, and increase the effectiveness of case handling so that the public can feel justice and the rule of law, he added.
The meeting was held via video. Relevant SPP department heads attended at the main venue, while officials from provincial-level procuratorates participated at the sub-venues around the country.
