The General Office and the Deputies Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) recently released 10 exemplary cases in handling deputies' suggestions.

The cases demonstrated how the effective handling of suggestions from NPC deputies contributed to overall high-quality development, addressed pressing public concerns and improved people's livelihoods and their well-being.

The 10 cases spanned the fields of agriculture and rural development, artificial intelligence, consumer services, ecological protection, healthcare, protection of minors, adolescent mental health, emergency management, flood prevention and judicial fairness.

The cases vividly illustrated how relevant organizations have implemented the concept of whole-process people's democracy — shifting from a response-driven approach to a proactive, implementation-driven approach in handling the suggestions of deputies.

Among the 10 cases was a joint initiative by the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Cyberspace Administration of China aimed at strengthening the prevention and control of juvenile delinquency.

According to the head of the Deputies Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee, a total of 9,160 suggestions, criticisms and opinions submitted by deputies during the third session of the 14th NPC have been handled and responded to by 211 designated entities.

The official also noted that the commission has been steadily enhancing the intelligent functions of its information platform for analyzing and utilizing the suggestions of deputies.

With a focus on key issues, such as developing new quality productive forces, the commission has conducted in-depth analysis and produced nine specialized reports for review at NPC Standing Committee sessions.

These measures provided strong support for translating public opinion and insights gathered through the suggestions into actionable inputs for national legislation and policy-making.
