The 34th Academic Seminar of the Chinese Society of Criminology (CSC) was held in Beijing on Oct 18, with the theme of "Modernization of State Governance and Scientific Crime Governance — The Integration of Criminal Law Science and Crime Governance in Modern Society."
Gong Ming, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, addressed the seminar. Wan Chun, President of the CSC, delivered a work report.
Gong emphasized that research on the integration of criminal law science and crime governance is a practical effort to explore methods and approaches to crime control through systematic thinking, and to support the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity through high-quality criminological studies.
He also stressed the importance of unwaveringly adhering to the path of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics, accurately identifying key tasks of criminological studies in the new era, and strengthening collective strength to advance the in-depth development of criminological studies in a steady and orderly manner.
Wan underscored the need to further strengthen criminological studies, enhance the summarization of crime governance practices and theoretical research, and focus on research on critical challenges and priorities in crime governance. He called for intensifying efforts to promote the development of China's independent criminological knowledge system, and make new contributions to advancing Chinese modernization and scientific crime governance within the framework of the rule of law.
