In August, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) published a compilation of white papers for 2024, highlighting four major procuratorial functions: criminal, civil, administrative, and public interest litigation. This marks the first time that the SPP has compiled its annual white papers into a standalone publication.

The four major procuratorial functions constitute the principal framework of legal supervision by procuratorial organs in the new era, and form the fundamental structure for ongoing innovative development of procuratorial work.

The book, compiled by the SPP's General Office, aims to thoroughly implement whole-process people's democracy and strengthen public oversight. It also seeks to help deputies to the National People's Congress, members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and people from various sectors better understand procuratorial work.

The book consists of six sections: criminal prosecution, civil prosecution, administrative prosecution, public interest litigation prosecution, intellectual property rights prosecution, and procuratorial work on juveniles. Each white paper in the book provides analytical overviews of procuratorates' case-handling practices and key features in its respective field.

With detailed data, comprehensive diagrams, and vivid case studies, the book provides a comprehensive overview of the progress and outcomes achieved by procuratorates nationwide over the past year. It demonstrates how procuratorial organs have ensured high-quality and efficient handling of every case, and promoted the comprehensive and well-coordinated development of the four major procuratorial functions.
