Ge Xiaoyan, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) of China, met with a delegation from the Italian National Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC) in Beijing on July 16.
Ge extended a warm welcome to the delegation on behalf of the SPP. She briefed the delegation on the constitutional role and primary functions of China's procuratorial organs, and, in response to the Italian side's interest, focused on their informatization development.
China's procuratorial organs have established an integrated informatization framework encompassing nationwide connectivity, unified system and consolidated data, Ge said.
Regarding the nationwide network, Ge explained that it connects procuratorates at all four administrative levels — national, provincial, municipal, and county — and is also interconnected with other political and legal organs including public security organs, courts, and judicial administration authorities. The network facilitates both vertical coordination among the four levels of procuratorates and horizontal interaction with other political and legal bodies.
She further highlighted the nationwide implementation of a standardized case-handling system and the innovative application of artificial intelligence (AI) in procuratorial work, including the development of intelligent case-handling assistance tools.
Ge noted that these initiatives have helped overcome the limitations of traditional oversight methods by enabling targeted clue mining. Meanwhile, they empowered social governance by effectively addressing regulatory blind spots in areas that affect people's livelihoods. Furthermore, Ge said, these measures have strengthened public interest litigation prosecution in areas such as ecological conservation and resource protection and further reinforced judicial safeguards. She added that the development of various procuratorial informatization systems has significantly improved both the efficiency and quality of case handling.
The ANAC delegation expressed their appreciation for the meeting with Ge. They underscored Italy's focus on scientific and technological innovation and the use of AI in anti-corruption efforts, while acknowledging valuable insights gained from China's experience. The delegation expressed a willingness to strengthen cooperation with China to jointly promote judicial fairness and the development of global rule of law.
