The first-ever documentary series on public interest litigation prosecution, Serve the People, began airing on multiple platforms from July 15.

Guided by the Supreme People's Procuratorate's Public Interest Litigation Procuratorial Department and Press Office, the documentary was co-produced by the Procuratorial Daily, Shanghai Media Group, and iQiyi, a leading streaming platform in China.

Consisting of seven episodes, the series focuses on hotspot issues concerning the public's interests, and showcases the work of procuratorial organs in various fields including ecological and environmental protection, personal information protection, safeguarding women's rights and interests, construction of barrier-free environments, and cultural heritage preservation.

By staying close to the prosecutors during the filming process, the documentary immersively captures their case-handling process. It vividly illustrates the complexity of public interest litigation by displaying real-life conflicts and their resolutions, and highlighting the supervisory nature, governance characteristics, and institutional advantages of procuratorial public interest litigation. The production team also interviewed experts, scholars, deputies to the people's congresses, volunteers, and others to demonstrate public participation and social consensus.

This year, the draft law on procuratorial public interest litigation is scheduled to be submitted to the National People's Congress Standing Committee for its first reading. Serve the People is not just a documentary series but also a vibrant endeavor in publicity and education regarding the rule of law.
