The Chinese Society for Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Research held its 2025 annual conference on June 19 in Nanchang, capital of East China's Jiangxi province, where participants engaged in discussions and exchanges on strengthening prevention and control of juvenile crime.
Gong Ming, President of the society and Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), along with Miao Shengming, Executive Vice-President of the society and Deputy Prosecutor General of the SPP, attended the conference and delivered speeches.
Gong said that as a national academic social organization specializing in research on juvenile delinquency, the society has gathered a large number of experts and scholars as well as dedicated workers from various departments and regions, shouldering the important responsibility in studying how to prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency and in promoting the healthy growth of minors.
He stressed the importance of focusing on the prevention and control of juvenile crime in the new era, adopting a multidisciplinary perspective with a focus on cyber-related offenses, leveraging digital technologies to advance theoretical research and deepening studies on mechanisms and systems for preventing juvenile delinquency.
It is important to integrate theory with practice, strengthen crime prevention at the root causes, implement tiered interventions, prevent recidivism, enhance research on social governance, and continuously enhance the effectiveness of preventing juvenile delinquency, Gong added.
Miao called for ensuring the correct political orientation of juvenile delinquency research.
He urged in-depth research on how to comprehensively and accurately implement the criminal policy of tempering justice with mercy.
It is crucial to fully and accurately understand the principle of serving the best interests of minors to improve the practical effect of research on juvenile delinquency prevention, Miao said.
He also emphasized the importance of self-improvement of the society and actively building a broad framework for research on preventing juvenile delinquency.
The leading officials attending the conference presented certificates to the authors of outstanding papers selected through a call for submissions under the theme of the annual conference. Prior to the conference, the 8th session of the society's council held its second meeting.
