Zhang Xueqiao, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) of China, met with a delegation led by Daphne Hong, Solicitor-General of the Attorney General's Chambers of Singapore, in Beijing on June 13.
Zhang welcomed Hong on behalf of the SPP and Prosecutor General Ying Yong, highlighting that her visit came at a significant moment, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore.
He said that the China-Singapore all-round, high-quality and future-oriented partnership established by the leaders of both countries has provided strategic guidance for deepening exchanges and cooperation across various fields.
The close communication between the two countries' procuratorial authorities has yielded fruitful results, with prosecutors from both sides benefiting from mutual learning and exchange, he added.
During the meeting, Zhang briefed the delegation on China's development of procuratorial information technology and digital prosecution initiatives.
He said that under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, the procuratorial authorities of China have been actively implementing digital prosecution strategy with the procuratorial organs of four levels integrated into a unified network to fulfill their four major procuratorial functions involving criminal, civil, administrative, and public interest litigation.
While enhancing information sharing with law enforcement and judicial bodies, procuratorial organs extensively applying big-data-driven legal supervision models, with the level of using digital and intelligent means in case handling continuously growing and the efficiency and quality of legal supervision enhanced significantly, Zhang said.
Currently, China’s procuratorial organs are making efforts to innovate intelligent applications and develop artificial intelligence-assisted case handling systems, he added.
Zhang emphasized that Chinese procuratorial authorities are willing to work along with the Attorney General's Chambers of Singapore to strengthen pragmatic cooperation and provide high-quality judicial support for the modernization of both countries.
Hong expressed her gratitude for the warm reception, and praised China's advances in procuratorial digitalization.
She said she hoped for increased collaboration between the two sides to jointly promote the modernization of procuratorial practices.
