Gong Ming, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) of China, met with a delegation from the Law Enforcement Academy of Uzbekistan in Beijing on June 10.

On behalf of China's SPP, Gong extended a warm welcome to the delegation and emphasized the longstanding cooperation between China and Uzbekistan in the field of prosecution.

He said that the signing of a new round of cooperation agreement between the two countries in the field of prosecution in June 2024 has injected fresh momentum into their collaboration, unleashing new potential for further cooperation in areas such as rule of law development and judicial reform.

Gong pointed out that the visit by the Uzbek delegation not only showcased the outcomes of prosecutorial cooperation between the two countries, but also demonstrated the deepening friendship and expansion of their cooperation in broader areas, which will contribute more wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of prosecution work of both countries as well as their efforts in international judicial cooperation.

Gong highlighted that China is advancing its modernization drive under the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, while Uzbekistan is actively exploring innovations in the field of justice.

Although geographically distant, the two countries share a common goal in pursuing the rule of law and a shared vision for judicial reform, which bring them closely together, he said.

He expressed the hope that the two countries would continue to enhance mutual trust and take more practical measures in areas such as personnel training and academic discussions in order to make their cooperation in the field of prosecution become a model of mutual learning and exchange between different civilizations, thus contributing to the development of bilateral relations through the strengthening of rule of law.

The Uzbek delegation expressed gratitude for the meeting with Gong, with the members saying that they hope to draw on China's advanced experiences in procuratorial education and training to guide their law enforcement agencies in optimizing talent development models and enhancing professional capabilities. This would facilitate systematic improvement and innovative development in their judicial education and training efforts, they added.
