Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) of China, met with a delegation led by Le Minh Tri, a member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Chief Justice of Vietnam's Supreme People's Court, in Beijing on June 6.
Extending a warm welcome to the delegation, Ying said that China and Vietnam are traditional friendly neighbors, which are jointly building a community with a shared future of strategic significance.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and also the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges, Ying said. He added that, during the state visit to Vietnam by President Xi Jinping, also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, in April, the top leaders of both parties and countries reached important consensus on deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries, charting a new blueprint for the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
Ying noted that judicial exchanges and cooperation are an important part of efforts to build the China-Vietnam community with a shared future. The judicial authorities from both countries have maintained a strong friendship with their practical cooperation deepened over the years, setting a good example for judicial exchanges and cooperation among neighboring countries, he said.
Ying emphasized that law-based governance on all fronts is a constitutional principle and a fundamental strategy of governance in China. The third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee made significant arrangements for further deepening reform, emphasizing the importance of upholding law-based governance and advancing reform and Chinese modernization on the track of the rule of law.
Under the leadership of the CPC, China's procuratorial organs have been implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, fulfilling their legal supervision responsibilities in accordance with the law, and promoting the implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, striving to better play their roles in promoting Chinese modernization, Ying said.
He said that Chinese procuratorial organs are willing to work with their Vietnamese counterparts and other judicial authorities to implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of both parties and countries and the joint statement issued by both sides, and to strengthen high-level mutual visits.
He also expressed the willingness of the Chinese procuratorial organs to work with Vietnam's judicial agencies to enhance practical cooperation within the mechanisms of the China-ASEAN Prosecutors General Conference and meetings between Chinese and Vietnamese procuratorial authorities in the border areas, so as to contribute to the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that bears strategic significance.
Le Minh Tri expressed his appreciation for the warm reception by Ying and commended China's achievements in its modernization drive and legal reforms. Noting that both Vietnam and China are socialist countries under the leadership of communist parties, he highlighted the traditional friendship between the two countries featuring "camaraderie plus brotherhood".
He expressed the hope that Vietnam could learn from the experiences of China's judicial organs in serving the country's modernization efforts, further enhance friendly exchanges between the two sides, deepen practical cooperation, jointly building socialist countries under the rule of law.
Present at the meeting were Tong Jianming, First Deputy Prosecutor General of China's SPP, Shen Liang, Vice-President of China's Supreme People's Court, Shi Weizhong, a permanent member at the deputy-ministerial class of the Procuratorial Committee of China's SPP, and Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh.
