At the invitation of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) of China, a delegation consisting of 14 members from the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam led by Deputy Prosecutor General Nguyen Duc Tai is visiting China for a study tour from May 25 to 30.
The opening ceremony of the study program was held at the Anhui Provincial People's Procuratorate in Hefei, capital of Anhui Province, on May 25. Zhang Xueqiao, Deputy Prosecutor General of China's SPP, attended the ceremony and extended a warm welcome to the Vietnamese delegation. Song Wenjuan, Chief Prosecutor of the Anhui Provincial People's Procuratorate, chaired the ceremony.
Organized by the SPP's International Cooperation Bureau and hosted by the provincial people's procuratorates of Anhui and Shandong, the study program aims to deepen exchanges between Chinese and Vietnamese procuratorial authorities in the field of public interest litigation and strengthen cooperation and friendship between the two countries, as China and Vietnam mark the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and the 25th anniversary of the first cooperation agreement between their procuratorial authorities.
Zhang noted that since the proposal to explore the establishment of a procuratorial public interest litigation system was put forward at the fourth plenary session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in 2014, procuratorial authorities in the country have been actively exploring and optimizing their practices, with the Chinese approach to public interest protection gradually improved. He expressed the hope that this study program could serve as a positive catalyst for Vietnam's pilot program in procuratorial public interest litigation and contribute to deepening bilateral relations and promoting the development of prosecution practice in both countries.
Nguyen Duc Tai thanked the SPP for the invitation and highlighted the frequent exchanges and close cooperation between the Vietnamese and Chinese procuratorial authorities in recent years, noting the continued consolidation and development of their relations through various multilateral and bilateral international cooperation mechanisms such as the China-ASEAN Prosecutors-General Conference. He expressed the hope that the exchanges during the study tour would facilitate a deeper understanding of China's experiences in piloting, promoting, and improving the procuratorial public interest litigation system, and further enhance practical and efficient cooperation between the two countries' procuratorial authorities.
During the study program, the delegation will visit Anhui and Shandong provinces to gain insights into China's procuratorial public interest litigation system in terms of its development and implementation, as well as case handling, and to exchange experiences in their work.
