A seminar titled "Promoting Foreign-Related Prosecution with High Quality and Efficiency to Support High-Level Opening-up" was held on May 23, during which the Research Center for Foreign-Related Criminal Law and Comparative Procuratorial Justice at Northwest University of Political Science and Law (NWUPL) was officially inaugurated.
The seminar was organized by the NWUPL and the Xi'an Municipal People's Procuratorate under the guidance of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Shaanxi Provincial People's Procuratorate.
During the seminar, participants discussed seven key topics, including extraterritorial evidence collection in criminal cases, examination and admissibility of extraterritorial evidence, the application of law from the perspective of international judicial cooperation, the importance and methods of foreign law ascertainment in criminal cases, the role and pathways of procuratorial international cooperation in uncovering cross-border crimes, and the judicial protection of China's overseas interests in the context of Belt and Road cooperation.
Participants agreed on the need to advance the development of the country's foreign-related legal system and its capacity, deepen research and analysis on the latest trends in foreign-related rule of law, and handle foreign-related procuratorial cases with high quality and efficiency, in alignment with the overall development of the country's opening-up and diplomatic work.
They also called for efforts to deepen international judicial cooperation mechanisms, cultivate versatile foreign-related legal talents, and promote synergies between theoretical breakthroughs in prosecution and improved practical effectiveness, in a bid to provide robust legal guarantees for high-quality development and high-level opening-up.
