A seminar on procuratorial efforts in the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin was held in Yulin city, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on April 25. During the event, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) and the Ministry of Water Resources released typical cases highlighting the coordinated efforts of procuratorial supervision and administrative law enforcement of water resources departments in advancing the protection of the Yellow River.

A total of 10 typical cases were released, including three criminal prosecution cases and seven public interest litigation prosecution cases. They involve violations in areas such as water resources protection, water pollution prevention and control, flood safety safeguards, soil erosion mitigation and control, and illegal sand mining regulation.

The SPP emphasized that procuratorial organs have prioritized improving the environmental quality of the Yellow River. By strengthening problem-oriented approaches and leveraging the functions of criminal prosecution and public interest litigation prosecution, procuratorial organs have actively contributed to the ecological conservation and governance of the Yellow River.

In terms of enhancing collaboration and coordination in the protection of the Yellow River, procuratorial organs, along with water resources authorities and the river basin management agencies, have been actively implementing mechanisms for information sharing, transferring clues, reporting case information, jointly handling the cases, and providing technical assistance.

The typical cases not only reflect the commitment of procuratorial organs to handling each case with high quality and efficiency, but also underscore their focus on the systematic, comprehensive, and coordinated protection and governance of the Yellow River to address issues within the river basin in a holistic and systematic manner.
