Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, meets with Ao Ieong Seong, Commissioner Against Corruption of the Macao Special Administrative Region, in Beijing on April 3.

Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), met with a delegation led by Ao Ieong Seong, Commissioner Against Corruption of the Macao Special Administrative Region, in Beijing on April 3.

Ying extended a warm welcome to Ao Ieong Seong and her delegation, noting that last year marked the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland. He emphasized that under the central government's strong leadership and with the support of the mainland, Macao has undergone transformative changes over the past 25 years.

In December last year, President Xi Jinping visited Macao and delivered a series of important speeches, providing fundamental guidance for promoting the steady and long-term practice of "one country, two systems" with Macao characteristics, as well as for strengthening exchanges and cooperation between mainland procuratorial organs and Macao's law enforcement and judicial institutions, Ying said.

Ying noted that Macao's prosperity hinges on its sound and law-based governance, highlighting the pivotal role of Macao's Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) in promoting law-based administration, safeguarding citizens' legitimate rights and interests, and fostering a social environment of integrity, based on its anti-corruption and ombudsman functions.

Mainland procuratorial organs, as State legal supervision bodies, judicial institutions ensuring the uniform and correct implementation of national laws, key forces protecting national and public interests, and an integral part of the national supervision system, bear significant responsibilities in coordinated anti-corruption efforts, Ying said.

Reiterating the SPP's commitment to upholding the "one country, two systems" principle, Ying said the SPP will strengthen pragmatic cooperation with Macao's law enforcement and judicial organs, including the CCAC, in areas such as mutual exchanges, personnel training, combating cross-border crime, and anti-corruption. Such efforts aim to support the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and provide strong legal safeguards for the high-quality socioeconomic development of both the mainland and Macao.

Ao Ieong Seong expressed her appreciation for the meeting with Ying, affirming the CCAC's firm commitment to implementing the principles of "one country, two systems" and "patriots administering Macao". She pledged that the CCAC will perform its duties according to the law, ensure stability and prosperity in the region, uphold fairness and justice, and further consolidate and deepen exchanges and cooperation with mainland procuratorial organs, contributing to Macao's better integration into the country's overall development.

Tong Jianming, Class I Grand Prosecutor and First Deputy Prosecutor General of the SPP, also attended the meeting.
