The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) has issued its 56th batch of guiding cases, focusing on the supervision of effective civil judgments, in order to provide reference and guidance for local procuratorates.

The Civil Procuratorial Department of the SPP stated that the supervision of effective civil judgments is an important function of civil procuratorial supervision. Procuratorial organs rectify erroneous civil judgments made by courts through supervision to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the relevant parties, promote judicial justice, ensure the unified and correct application of laws, and uphold the unity, dignity and authority of the rule of law, the department said.

In 2024, procuratorial organs nationwide accepted over 280,000 civil prosecution cases of various types, with over 80,000 cases involving the supervision of effective civil judgments, a 6 percent year-on-year increase.

The five newly released cases focus on common cases such as private lending and service contract disputes. These cases involve enterprises and people's livelihood, the two major areas of judicial protection, and embody core socialist values, with strong significance in terms of the application of civil law and guidance of judicial philosophy.

The Civil Procuratorial Department said that the supervision of civil litigation must adhere to the people-centered approach, with a particular focus on clarifying the facts of the case through the lawful exercise of rights of investigation and verification.

Civil procuratorial work will focus on the principle of "handling each case with high quality and efficiency" and strive to ensure that the people feel fairness and justice in every case by facilitating channels for supervision, increasing efforts and improving the quality and efficiency of supervision while adhering to the standards of legality and necessity, the department said.
