The Fujian Provincial People's Procuratorate held the preliminary round of its first province-wide bilingual speech contest titled "Telling procuratorial stories in English, striving forward on the Chinese path to modernization" on Feb 28.
The event was part of the province's efforts to implement the guiding principles of the national conference on foreign-related procuratorial work held in Shanghai last year, and advance its foreign-related procuratorial work. A total of 21 contestants, selected from procuratorates at all levels across the province, participated in the competition.
Wang Hua, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Fujian Provincial People's Procuratorate, addressed the competition. To ensure the professionalism and impartiality of the competition, the organizing committee invited experts from the School of Foreign Languages at Fuzhou University, the College of Foreign Languages at Fujian Normal University, and relevant departments of the provincial procuratorate to serve as judges. The judges conducted comprehensive evaluations of the contestants' performances on-site.
The supervision and inspection department of the provincial procuratorate dispatched representatives to oversee the entire competition process.
