A training workshop that focused on public interest litigation regarding cultural heritage protection and the inheritance of historical and cultural relics in both rural and urban areas was held in Qinhuangdao, North China's Hebei province, from Sept 8 to 14.

The workshop was jointly organized by the Public Interest Litigation Procuratorial Department of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) and the Department of Building Energy Conservation and Technology of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

The training was designed to comprehensively implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, strengthen coordination between administrative law enforcement and procuratorial public interest litigation in the field of historical and cultural heritage protection, and promote the improvement of the capabilities and levels of historical and cultural heritage protection and inheritance across the country.

The training involved multiple experts, scholars and relevant personnel from administrative departments in the fields of public interest litigation prosecution and urban-rural historical and cultural heritage protection and inheritance.

The training focused on themes such as "Advancing the Construction of Law-Based Governments", "Urban-Rural Historical and Cultural Heritage Protection and Inheritance", and "Public Interest Litigation for Cultural Heritage Protection", combining lectures, group discussions and on-site teaching.

More than 160 officials responsible for procuratorial public interest litigation work and urban-rural historical and cultural heritage protection and inheritance work at all levels across China participated in the training.

A symposium on public interest litigation for urban-rural historical and cultural heritage protection and inheritance was also held.

The training workshop not only provided valuable learning opportunities for the participants but also established an efficient platform for communication, enhancing the collaborative capabilities of procuratorial authorities and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in public interest litigation. This collaboration will help build a stronger synergy for protection of cultural heritage, contributing wisdom and strength to the preservation, inheritance and utilization of urban-rural historical and cultural heritage.
