Tong, on behalf of the SPP and Prosecutor General Ying Yong, welcomed Ip and his delegation.
Noting that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, Tong said that, over the past 25 years, the Macao SAR government and residents from all sectors of society have worked together to uphold the constitutional order based on the Constitution and the Basic Law of the Macao SAR under the strong leadership of the central government, writing a new chapter in the successful practice of "one country, two systems" with Macao characteristics.
Cooperation between the procuratorial organs from the mainland and Macao SAR has yielded fruitful results, he said.
Presenting the delegation on the development of the rule of law and procuratorial work on the mainland, Tong said that the just-concluded third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) adopted the resolution on further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization, planning for improving a rule of law system with Chinese characteristics.
He said that the procuratorates of the mainland are deeply studying and implementing the guiding principles of the plenum, adhering to the socialist path of the rule of law with Chinese characteristics, integrating reform and the rule of law, and striving to "handle each case with high quality and efficiency," in order to provide support for and serve Chinese modernization with modernized prosecution.
Noting that organizing the 10th training session is a concrete measure to implement the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, Tong expressed a willingness to develop close relations between procuratorial organs from the mainland and Macao, deepen cooperation, and share experiences in procuratorial work. He said he hoped that the cooperation between the two sides can contribute expertise in the procuratorial sector to enrich the practice of "one country, two systems," support Macao's integration into national development, and promote the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin, Guangdong province.
Ip expressed gratitude for the longstanding support from the SPP for the work of the Public Prosecutions Office of the Macao SAR. He said that his office resolutely implements the principle of "patriots governing Macao," fulfills its prosecutorial duties in accordance with the law, and vigorously safeguards national sovereignty, security and development interests.
He said he hoped to strengthen communication and exchange with the mainland's procuratorates to better serve overall national economic and social development and promote the country's modernization.
