The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) has released typical cases of procuratorial organs prosecuting gang-related crimes in the field of engineering construction in accordance with the law.
The four cases released cover common and frequent criminal activities in construction processes such as demolition, ground work, and building material supply, including three cases of mafia-related organized crimes and one case of organized crime involving criminal gangs.
The release aims to better promote the special campaign on the procuratorial protection of enterprises, and safeguard the healthy development of the private economy. It is underscored that procuratorial organs should combine the special campaign with the efforts to combat organized crimes and root out criminal gangs on an ongoing basis, focusing on the prominent issues in key areas such as engineering construction, and handling each case with high quality and efficiency.
The procuratorial organs should ensure law-based punishment, address both the symptoms and root causes, and establish a long-term mechanism to prevent gang-related crimes. Efforts should be made to continuously improve the levels of the rule of law, standardization and professionalism of the regular fight against organized crimes and criminal gangs, in a bid to facilitate the building of a law-based business environment.
