Chen Guoqing, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Prosecutor General of the SPP, attended the event and delivered a speech.
Chen pointed out that the report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) emphasized the need to strengthen legal protection of intellectual property rights in order to establish a fundamental system for all-around innovation.
In recent years, procuratorates at all levels have earnestly implemented the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, focusing on key areas and prominent issues in intellectual property rights protection, he said.
Through solid steps such as establishing intellectual property prosecution offices, standardizing performance of duties and case handling, and actively integrating into the overall framework of intellectual property rights protection, they have continuously enhanced the judicial protection of intellectual property rights, making positive contribution to promoting innovative economic and social development, he added.
Chen emphasized that China's economy has entered a new development stage, while significant achievements have been made in intellectual property protection, there are also many new demands and challenges.
He underlined the need for procuratorates at all levels to further strengthen the judicial protection of intellectual property rights, enhance professional capabilities to improve the quality and effectiveness of their integrated performance of duties.
Efforts should be made in the protection of intellectual property rights at home and abroad, as well as to coordinate the advancement of international cooperation in intellectual property rights protection, he said.
Chen urged procuratorates at all levels to strengthen theoretical research on intellectual property prosecution and the foreign-related rule of law to enhance law-based protection of intellectual property rights.
The event was attended by deputies to the National People's Congress, officials from governmental departments, experts and scholars from home and abroad, representatives from enterprises, intellectual property lawyers, and representatives from procuratorates from around the country.
