The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) released five typical cases on punishing crimes of producing and selling counterfeit and inferior goods in accordance with the law on March 14, sending a strong signal that procuratorial organs will strictly crack down on such crimes throughout all relevant chains. The cases will serve as examples and provide guidance for procuratorial organs at all levels to handle cases of that nature.
The typical cases highlight the combat against the crime of selling counterfeit and shoddy goods through online platforms, and underline the efforts in rooting out the crime chains by tracking clues. The cases also indicate that procuratorial organs have fully performed their legal supervision functions, while taking into account the protection of intellectual property rights and the rights and interests of consumers, according to the SPP.
It said that procuratorial organs will take the special initiative of "Procuratorial Protection of People's Livelihoods" as an opportunity to rigorously crack down on the crime of manufacturing and selling fake and inferior goods that are closely related to people's livelihoods in new business forms such as online marketing and livestreaming promotions in accordance with the law, to advance high-quality development, maintain a fair order for market competition, make concentrated efforts to strengthen quality competitiveness, and continuously enhance the sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security of the people.
