A China-Thailand procuratorial organs symposium on exchanges was held at the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) of China in Beijing on Jan 24. Tong Jianming, First Deputy Prosecutor General of the SPP, attended the meeting and had in-depth discussions and exchanges with the delegation from the Office of the Attorney General of Thailand (OAG).

Tong, on behalf of the SPP, welcomed the visit of the OAG delegation. He said that China and Thailand are close and friendly neighbors. With frequent high-level visits between the two countries, bilateral political mutual trust has been continuously enhanced and cooperation in various fields has achieved significant outcomes. The connotation of friendly cooperation between the Chinese and Thai procuratorial organs has also been constantly enriched and advanced under the framework of multilateral cooperation mechanisms.

Tong briefed the Thai delegation on the functional positioning, procuratorial work, and reform of China's procuratorial organs. He pointed out that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, attaches great importance to the construction of the rule of law and the procuratorial work on a new journey in the new era, and has endowed Chinese procuratorial organs with greater political, legal, and procuratorial responsibilities. In recent years, Chinese procuratorial organs have closely aligned their efforts with the central tasks of the Party and the State, fully fulfilled their procuratorial functions, and continuously promoted the procuratorial practice of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, yielding new outcomes in various aspects of procuratorial work.

Tong stressed that judicial exchanges and cooperation are important components of the friendly cooperation between China and Thailand. China's SPP is ready to work together with the Thai OAG to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, maintain close communication at various levels with the OAG in criminal judicial assistance, personnel mutual visits and exchanges, and the training of prosecutors, continuously deepen mutual trust, friendship and cooperation, and jointly provide higher-quality judicial guarantees for Belt and Road cooperation and the enhancement of the well-being of the two peoples.

Ms. Korbkul Winitnaiyapak, Inspector General of the OAG, attended the symposium. The Thai delegation expressed gratitude for the support and assistance provided by the SPP during their study tour in China. They introduced relevant work of the OAG and expressed their hope to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Chinese procuratorial organs and make new contributions to the development of the friendly relations between Thailand and China.

Also present at the symposium were SPP officials from the Political Department, the First Procuratorial Department, the Law and Policy Research Office, the Case Management Office, the International Cooperation Bureau, and the Prosecutorial Technology and Information Research Center.
