Ying Yong, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) of the People's Republic of China, met with a delegation led by Alberto Blanco Silva, Cuban Ambassador to China, in Beijing on Dec 28, 2023.

In his welcome remarks, Ying said that China and Cuba are close friends, comrades and brothers with a profound traditional friendship, and the relationship between the two countries has undergone the test of international changes and has become a model of sincerity and cooperation among socialist countries and developing countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations of two countries.

Ying added that in recent years under the strategic guidance of Xi Jinping, Chinese President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, Cuban President and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba , the special friendly relations between the two countries and the two parties have further developed and the two countries are working hand in hand to jointly build a China-Cuba community with a shared future.

Ying reviewed the exchanges and cooperation between the procuratorial organs of the two countries, and introduced the progress of China's rule of law construction and prosecutorial work.

He said that the 20th CPC National Congress drew a great blueprint for rejuvenating the Chinese nation on all fronts by pioneering a uniquely Chinese path to modernization. It is noted in a special chapter in the report, delivered by President Xi to the 20th CPC National Congress, that the country will exercise law-based governance on all fronts and advance the rule of law,  emphasizing the "strengthening of legal supervision by procuratorial organs" and the "improvement of the public interest litigation system". 

He said that Chinese procuratorial organs have conscientiously implemented the lines set by the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China to advance rule of law construction, strengthen legal supervision and advance the public interest litigation prosecution system, promoting the modernization of procuratorial work to serve Chinese-style modernization.

Ying noted that the high-level visits and fruitful cooperation between the procuratorial organs of China and Cuba have played a positive role in promoting the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations over the years. The SPP is willing to strengthen practical cooperation with Cuba in cooperation in prosecutor training and exchange visits of prosecutors, to boost friendship between the two countries and deliver greater benefits to the people of both countries.

Silva highly praised China for its significant achievements in reform and opening up, the rule of law construction and judicial and prosecutorial work. He also expressed the willingness of the Cuban side to fully learn from China's experience in its judicial reform, and the embassy’s willingness to help promote exchanges, visits, and mutual learning between Chinese and Cuban prosecutorial organs to further develop friendly relations between the two countries.
