Ying Yong meets with Vietnamese counterpart

Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of the People's Republic of China, meets with Le Minh Chi, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of Vietnam, in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam on Dec 5 (local time).

Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of the People's Republic of China, who was visiting Vietnam to attend the 13th China-ASEAN Prosecutors-General Conference, met with Le Minh Chi, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of Vietnam, in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam on Dec 5 (local time).

Ying emphasized that China and Vietnam have a long-standing friendship and have supported each other in their fight  for national liberation, which has resulted in close cooperation between the prosecution organs of the two countries.

As an important part of the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, high-level visits between the two countries' prosecution authorities have been frequently held, and cooperation has continued to deepen, and within multilateral frameworks such as the China-ASEAN Prosecutors-General Conference, China and Vietnam actively engage in communication and mutual support, further enhancing their friendly and cooperative relations, according to Ying.

Under the new circumstances, China's procuratorial organs are willing to closely work with their Vietnamese counterparts in implementing the consensus reached by the top leaders of both countries to provide legal protection for high-quality development, modernization, and the Belt and Road construction, said Ying.

He proposed establishing systems like the contact person system for judicial assistance, regular consultation mechanisms for cases, information sharing and exchange mechanisms, direct cooperation mechanisms between procuratorial organs in border areas in combating transnational crime and maintaining social stability, and exchange of procuratorial personnel to raise cooperation between the two countries' procuratorial organs to a new level.

Le said that Vietnam and China have the same political ideology and a deep traditional friendship, making them a strategically significant community with a shared future.

Vietnam's prosecution organs pay high attention to the reform and development of China's prosecution work, especially in the areas of public interest litigation, information technology application, and digital transformation, he said.

Le added that Vietnam's procuratorial organs also highly value exchange and cooperation with their Chinese counterparts and are willing to further strengthen law enforcement and judicial cooperation, expand avenues for cooperation and training of prosecutors, and enhance close coordination in multilateral judicial cooperation mechanisms such as the Conference, in order to jointly maintain regional security and stability and contribute to the consolidation and development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China.

Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's Secretary for Justice Paul Lam Ting-kwok, Public Prosecutor General of the Macao Special Administrative Region Ip Son Sang, Chief Prosecutor of the People's Procuratorate of Guangdong Province Feng Jian, Chief Prosecutor of the People's Procuratorate of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Mao Zhonghua, and Chief Prosecutor of the People's Procuratorate of Yunnan Province Wang Guanghui attended the meeting.
