Chinese procuratorial departments have fully fulfilled their obligations in the handling of public-interest litigation cases concerning ecological environment and resource conservation, according to Ying Yong, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate and China's Chief Grand Prosecutor.

Ying Yong made those remarks in a special report at the sixth session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) in Beijing on October 21.

Procuratorial departments have issued pre-litigation procuratorial suggestions to related administrative organs in a move to ensure that a majority of public-interest litigation cases can be properly resolved before entering judicial procedures.

Meanwhile, procuratorial agencies have pushed for the prosecution of public-interest litigation cases that cannot be solved in the pre-litigation stage but yet bear landmark importance.

Apart from their utmost efforts to make the sky blue, the water clear and the land clean, procuratorial departments have fully implemented the laws on protecting the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, rolled out a slew of procuratorial suggestions on the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the ecological conservation of the Yellow River basin, conducted special oversight over the protection of ocean resources, demanded rectifications over unlawful utilization, pollution and damages of farmland, forestry, wetlands and grasslands, and applied a red-line system of land-related ecological conservation.
